Bleak brightened. He's awake! He put one paw on the tom's side. "Don't even try to get up," he warned. "You haven't been like this for very long. The fox got you on the throat and you almost bled to death. Just stay down, okay?" Bleak turned to get some more goldenrod, crunching down the herb and spitting it out onto his paw. Bleak sat on his hind legs only and lifted Scratch's chin gently with his free paw, then applied the ointment over top the cobwebs. Not too hard or you'll pull the cobwebs off... Just like sister said. Bleak fished rubbing the herb on and put one more layer of the silky webs over it. He gently laid Scratch's head down and bent forward to whisper in the black cat's ear, "You didn't hear anything that I said before, did you?"

"No...why? Did you say anything important?" Scratch was hoping that Bleak had said something about him being gay. He figured that he hadn't but just maybe. He was suddenly aware of a throbbing from him head. "Hey, Ash? Do you have any herbs that would ease the pain? My neck hurts and so does my head."

Ash ducked away, not wanting to disturb the two toms. She felt she had accomplished her mission. As she quickly, but silently, fled into the forest that one memorable moment flashed into her mind.
"Remember Ash, chew the marigold thoroughly first. Good job!" The always happy ginger she-cat mewed, turning her head to the black tortoiseshell she-cat. "Thanks, Ruby!" Ash purred, gently rubbing the poultice into the injured tabby's body.
The brown tabby tom had gotten into a fight with a Clan cat. It didn't work well for him. He had got some serious cuts. Ruby and Ash had been playing when he came up to them. Ruby always helped injured rouges and loners.
"There you go! All better Brook!" Ruby purred, gently patting off the last of the cobwebs. 'You're ready to go!" With that the tabby, Brook, stood up and dipped his head in thanks to the two she-cats. hen he trotted off, being careful on his bruised paw.
"Ash, you are great with herbs!" Ruby purred, the elderly ginger she-cat had been like a mother to the young kit for a while now. With her cruel parents, Ash needed someone else. She had always seemed too wise for a cat. She often had a strange look in her eyes and she would freeze for a minute or so. Then, she'd come back and say a weird phrase. They normally dealt with warnings of upcoming dangers. They always came true though.
"Ash, I need to tell you someth-" The ginger she-cat broke off. Her eyes glazed over for a few seconds, and then she was back. "The challenge ahead may be fierce, there will be blood, but no matter how hard, you shall spark a flame."
Ash gazed at the elderly she-cat with large, dark blue eyes. "What does that mean?" She mewed, worriedly. But asking that was no use. Ruby's eyes glazed over and she toppled to the ground. It was time for her to join her ancestors. Ash sighed and dug a hole as deep as she could. She then buried The elderly she-cat and marked her grave with a stone. "Goodbye old friend!" She mewed before padding off to do the one thing she'd needed to. Kill.

"Uhm... No reason!" Bleak stammered, his ears getting hot. Bleak watched as the she-cat ignored Scratch and fled to the forest. Her task was done. Bleak stood up, and called out, "Good bye, Ash!" with a small smile. Getting some feverfew, Bleak placed the herbs in front of the black tom. "Eat those," he instructed. He stayed silent for a moment, then meowed, "I hope we see her again. She's different than other she-cats." Bleak missed that he had said we, and not I. Tonight had been a life changing experience. The little tom had killed a cat, met Scratch and Ash, almost been killed by a fox, rescued, and made two odd friends. Friends... Bleak thought happily. Then, a voice shot back into his head; his father's. 'Don't trust anyone! All of them turn away one day. Kill every friend you make, son.' Bleak felt his claws slide out obediently, then pull back in. No... He wouldn't do as his father said. Turning his attention back to the tom, Bleak had forgotten about his bleeding shoulder. "Do you think you can stand up?"

ooc: Not completely!
Ash ran as fast as her paws would carry her. She needed to visit Ruby. The grave wasn't too far away. Ash had neveer forgotten the location of her old friend's grave. Wow, I think I'm actually going to miss those dumb toms. Well, if Bleak finally realises where his heart lies he will have Scratch... They'll be fine as long as Scratch keeps Bleak under control. Ash smiled as she realized how much the two toms had grown on her...

"I don't think so. But I could try" He took a deep breath and tried to get up. Pain shot through his body and collapsed, barely getting off of the ground. He let out a yowl that echoed through the trees. He closed his eyes and took deep, calming breaths. He suddenly felt better and opened his eyes.

Bleak watched the other tom collapse and he rushed over. "Easy," he mewed. He pressed against Scratch to help support himself. "Try standing now. Don't worry, I'll help you. Ready? One, two, three, now!" Bleak put his shoulder under Scratch's chest and pushed up. He winced slightly as he felt pain radiate through his small body from his shoulder. Groaning, Bleak pinched one eye shut to help the pain ease.

Scratch pushed up with Bleak, and got all the way up. He tried not to lean on the tom too much, but he also didn't want to fall back down. He tilted his head toward Bleak and meowed, "I'm not too heavy for you, am I?" He smiled and turned his head back. "So where are we going?" He purposefully said we, hoping that Bleak would stay with him.

Bleak opened his eye. "N-No," he stammered painfully, "it's just that, my shoulder feels like it's on fire." He grinned and tilted his head. We? Bleak dropped the smile. "Erm... I don't know." He hadn't planned on going anywhere with the tom, but Scratch obviously had different plans. "Do you have any place in mind? I'm just a drifter; I just go." Bleak had never really settled down to live, only to spend the night or recover from battle. Having the burden of a destination was odd for the little tom.

"Well I was thinking that we could go to the forest or the old abandoned Twoleg nest. I usually sleep in one of those places, so I can get a good night's rest when we get there. I don't care which place we go to, though you might have a preference. You choose, and I'll follow. I kinda have to." Scratch smiled and waited for Bleak to choose. He just wanted to get to a place where he could actually sleep.

Bleak thought about his choices and any other place he knew. "Hmn... Oh, I know! Come on." Bleak began to lead the tom, balancing carefully under his chest so he wouldn't fall. Bleak could remember a cave that was close to the river, one that grew soft moss in large clumps. It would be perfect for a couple of sore rogues. "Keep an eye out for a small cave, alright? That's where we stay." Bleak knew that the sounds of sleeping in a cave normally brought damp, wet, and cold to the mind, but this cave was different. "I used to stay there when I was younger, after I... Well... You know." Bleak knew that Scratch didn't know. He didn't know about the little tom killing his litter mates. Bleak didn't feel comfortable voicing his old issues; it only resulted in a huge breakdown and the need to be comforted...

Scratch hobbled along with Bleak supporting him. He looked for a small cave, as Bleak had told him to. Then Bleak said something that Scratch didn't understand. He said 'I stayed there after....uh you know.' The black injured male had no clue what he was talking about, but didn't ask. Maybe it was something personal, that Bleak didn't want to talk about. Scratch suddenly spotted a cave. "Hey is that the cave over there," he asked.

Bleak followed the other tom's gaze and spotted the cave. The little cat nodded as relief flooded him. "Yes, that's the one." He led Scratch over and inside the cave. The darkness was lit up by the moonlight, making the cats' eyes glow. Bleak brought the black cat over to a large clump of moss. "Lay down there," he ordered. Just to be sure the tom did as he was told, Bleak ducked away from the black cat and gently pushed him over. Bleak made sure that the bedding was soft, Bleak wanted to be sure that the tom wouldn't get injured when he fell. Bleak stepped back once the other cat had settled down. "Umn," Bleak made one of his famous sounds. Bleak was always making some sound that expressed thought or feeling. "You stay here. I'm going to keep watch. My wounds can wait." Bleak wanted to watch to see if the fox would come back. The thought of the russet beast crashing through the cave, jaws snapping at the two injured and weak cats made the little cat tremble rapidly. Dammit! Bleak scolded himself, stop acting like a kit! It's only a fox... Nothing more... But, even as much as he tried, the little cat couldn't help but sit and tremble as his wide yellow eyes stared, terrified, out the cave entrance. Bleak didn't turn to look, but hoped that Scratch wasn't watching. Bleak hated to show fear and weakness to others.

OOC: Its fine
Scratch watched Bleak go and thought, this moss is pretty soft. I suppose I could get some sleep... He closed his eyes and hit sleep immediately. He dreamed that he was at Blood River again. He was lapping up the cool, refreshing water when a fox came out and pushed him into the river. He landed in the water and hit a rock that sent him plummeting to death. He woke up from the sound of his own yowl. He realized he was panting heavily and called at the his 'guard', "Bleak!"

Bleak had just managed to stop shaking when Scratch screamed. Bleak's fur ruffled, and the little cat turned and pelted over to the tom. "Scratch, it's okay! You were only dreaming. I'm here. You were only dreaming." Bleak smoothed down some of Scratch's fur with a paw. Bleak tried to make his fur lie flat, but he had gotten such a scare that it wouldn't, so it simply stuck up. Bleak gently shushed the terrified tom and kept running his paw down the black cat. "You really scared me," Bleak admitted. "What were you dreaming about?"
