"Oh sorry. Well I was back at Blood River and I was drinking the cool water. Then a fox came out and pushed me into the water. I hit a rock and I died. It was really scary...dieing I mean." Scratch didn't like saying this out loud, but he trusted Bleak. He hoped that Bleak trusted him as well.

"Oh," Bleak murmured. "Well, You're okay now, right?" Bleak stood up, wincing at the pain in his untreated shoulder. The little cat picked up his leg that was injured to take some stress off of his shoulder. The relief was almost instant, but it still hurt. "Agh! This stupid shoulder is really going to be a problem..."

"No! You need to take care of that shoulder before it gets worse! I don't want it getting infected and then you being in more pain..." Scratch yelled at Bleak. He couldn't let him get hurt and be in pain. It would be just to much to bear. "Maybe we should go get Ash. She would know what herbs to use and how to use them. Do you want to? I can stay here or hobble along with you."

Bleak flinched as Scratch raised his voice, the sound waves beating the little cat's head. "Hobble?" Bleak meowed, sputtering with laughter. Bleak thought that hobble was one of the weirdest words in the world. Lowering his head, Bleak tried, failing miserably, to hold back a laugh. "Oh, wow, hobble," Bleak laughed. "Haven't heard that one in awhile." Bleak shook his head and calmed down. "I know what herb I need," he told Scratch, the laughter still in his high-pitched mew. "My sister taught me herbs when we were kits. Don't ask me how she knew them at such a young age; she just did. I can get them myself. Stay here," Bleak added in a snap. He didn't even think that Scratch could stand, let alone 'hobble' after Bleak. The little cat smiled at the word. Turning, he limped quickly out of the cave in search of marigold. Scenting the air, Bleak caught a whiff of it on the breeze. Following the smell, Bleak found the patch and used everything he needed to cover all of his wounds. Turning, a patch of skullcap can into view. Perfect! Skullcap seeds gave extra energy; just what the two toms needed. Padding over, Bleak began to shake out a few seeds and set them down on a clean leaf. A loud rustle sounded be hind Bleak just as he was about to leave. Stiffening, Bleak gingerly turned around with the leaf clenched in his jaw. The fox was at the patch of marigold, its eyes shut, rubbing its injured muzzle through the leaves. Eyes widening in fear, Bleak moved silently around the fox. He probably could have made some noise, what with the racket the fox was making. Once he was a safe distance away, Bleak pelted all out for the cave. Rushing in, Bleak had to sit down and skid to a halt due to his high speed. He managed to stop just before he hit Scratch, so close that their pelts brushed. Setting down the leaf, Bleak panted, "Here, take half of the seeds. They'll give you energy." Bleak hadn't realized that he was trembling with fear. He also didn't know that his fur was standing on end. He just felt numb.

Scratch was about to stop Bleak when he turned and went out of the cave. Damn cat. He's so stubborn, he thought to himself. He sat and waited for the other tom to return. The black cat still wondered about if Bleak was gay. He hoped so, that way they could be a couple and a deadly couple at that. Then suddenly, Bleak came pelting in and was panting and shaking. He handed Scratch some herbs and told him that they gave you energy. "Bleak? Whats wrong? What happened?" Scratch asked him when he had finished talking. He hoped that something bad hadn't happened.

Bleak narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean? Nothing is wrong. What on earth gives you that idea?" the tom meowed, sarcasm ringing in every word. Bleak was completely oblivious to his quivering. "Eat the damned skullcap seeds before I have to force them down your throat!" Bleak bent down and licked up his half of the seeds, swallowing them quickly. He was still shaking. "Nothing happened. I'm fine... Nothing..." Bleak began to slowly, and drowsily, close his eyes. He was suddenly very tired. He needed to rest. Figuring that it was from not from passing out when the fox got his shoulder, Bleak wasn't all that concerned. Suddenly, he remembered that he was supposed to be guarding the cave. Bleak's eyes flew open and he stood up shakily. "G-go to sleep," he stammered to Scratch. "I'll, umn, keep watch while you recover." Bleak turned away from the tom and began to pad to the cave entrance, the feeling coming to him. "Whoa," he whispered, stopping suddenly. "Why am I shaking?" Giving his pelt a good shake, Bleak began to head toward the entrance of the cave once more.

Scratch leaned over and ate his seeds. "Bleak, I'm worried because your shaking! Your really scaring me. It takes something to scare you! Now tell me what happened before I get mad!" Scratch yelled at Bleak. He was freaked because Bleak was usually tough and if something scared him enough to make him shake, there must have been something wrong. He couldn't take it. If he didn't know what was wrong, who couldn't keep watch at all. But he wanted to.

Ash stopped beside a stream. There a few foxlengths away was a mound of dirt. On top of the mound was a small rock. Right away Ash knew it was Ruby's grave. She sat down beside it and stared sadly. "Ruby, did I accomplish what I was supposed to?" Ash sighed, knowing she would never get an answer.

Bleak flinched slightly. "Scratch, stop yelling. I'm fine." Bleak flashed a halfhearted smile at the tom. He swallowed hard, and slowly, but surely, his shivering stopped. "There? I'm not shaking anymore. I just saw the fox again and got a little spooked; that's all. I'm terribly scared of foxes." Bleak looked away and studied his paws. Admitting fear wasn't one of Bleak's favorite things to do. It was a sign of weakness; and opening to an attack. Don't be a fool... Scratch isn't that kind of cat, and he is in no shape to be attacking you, Bleak tried to reassure himself. But, thinking about his family, Bleak had learned their weaknesses. He took advantage, and had killed all but his mother. What kind of cat was he? A monster. Bleak pinched his eyes shut tight. "No, not now!" he mewed, holding back the tears. "No!" he screamed. "They're dead! Get. Over. It." Bleak stood up and began to walk out of the cave mouth. Please... No more tears... I'll kill myself if I keep crying...
OOC:: Umn... Scratch might need to really step in here... Bleak is kinda suicidal...

OOC: I kinda see that. Oh and this is the post where Scratch admits that he's gay to Bleak. ;D
"Bleak, what are you shouting about? What?" Scratch watched as Bleak muttered to himself and started crying and saying that he would kill himself if he didn't stop crying. Scratch jumped up, ignoring the pain and hobbled as fast as he could over to Bleak. "Bleak, just stop crying. Everything is fine. You can't kill yourself! You can't kill yourself because....because I love you!"He screamed at Bleak he was terrified that Bleak would kill himself. Then he realized that he had said that he was gay. Well..at least he knows now, he thought to himself. A sudden bolt of pain, worse than he already had shot through him. He collapsed and landed with a hard thud to the ground.

OOC:: I'm gonna say that Scratch is K.O. right now, kay?
IC::Bleak stopped dead in his tracks. He what? Bleak snapped out of it when Scratch collapsed. "Scratch!" he mewed, crouching down beside the tom. "You shouldn't have followed me out..." the little cat told the black tom tartly. Oh, yes he did. You were going to kill yourself, idiot. Bleak hated when he thought like that. Getting a little more than fed up, Bleak grabbed Scratch's scruff as gently as he could and began to drag the larger cat back to the cave. Reaching the cave, Bleak put the black cat down in the bed of moss. There, he thought, now we can go back to normal... No more suicide. Bleak curled up beside Scratch and rested his head on the soft black pelt of the loner's back. "It's okay now, Scratch," Bleak murmured, knowing that the loner was sleeping. "I'm not going anywhere. I'll be right here when you wake up. I'll be here... Forever..." Closing his eyes, Bleak drifted drowsily to sleep.

Scratch woke up and felt very drowsy. He felt something on his back and turned his head slowly to see Bleak resting on his back. He decided not to disturb the male. He would let him sleep, seeing he was tired and needed rest. I need some rest too, he thought to himself. He settled into a comfortable position, careful not to disturb the sleeping Bleak, and closed his eyes, falling into a dreamless sleep.

Bleak opened his yellow orbs of eyes. Like always, he hadn't dreamed. Lifting his head carefully, the small cat looked at the other tom. Scratch was still sleeping. Getting silently to his paws, Bleak padded to the mouth of the cave and felt the early morning sun beat down on him. Giving himself a long stretch, Bleak winced as pain shivered through him from his scratches. Note to self, he told himself, no more stretches when you're cut up. Bleak shook out his pelt and scanned the horizon. Ash momentarily crept to his mind. Where was she now? Shrugging, the small cat went to a small sunny patch and laid out with his head on his paws. The sun belted his pelt and warmed his cold insides. Smiling softly, Bleak shut his eyes and sunbathed.

Scratch woke, feeling refreshed and new, despite the pain. It have lessened, but was still recognizable. He looked around with sleepy eyes and realized that Bleak wasn't there. He was automatically scared. "Bleak...Bleak...Bleak!" He yelled for him, feeling scared. If he left then he had probably left because of what the black male had said to him. It's all my fault, he thought to himself. His eyes filled with tears, but they didn't pour over. He knew they wouldn't spill until he knew for sure that Bleak was gone.

Sunbathing was one of Bleak's favorite things to do, and he got grumpy when he was disturbed. Scratch calling his name was disturbing him, so he ignore the first two calls. When his name was shouted the third time, Bleak lifted his head and glared into the cave. "Shut up! I'm outside! God dammit, can't a cat get a decent sunbath without getting screamed at?" Bleak set his head back down and stared at the bushes through narrowed eyes. Scratch could have looked just outside and seen him. But, then Bleak remembered that he had been suicidal last night, so the tom had a reason to be worried. Sighing, Bleak called back, "I'm only taking a nice sunbath. I'm right outside the cave; don't worry." He tired to sound as gentle as he could.
