Paws glided inches from the ground as a translucent figure drifted toward his destination. His violet eyes grazed the area around him. Nothing was there, but that did not ease his tenseness. He was going to be like this until the world ended; forever to be aware of the thing that was not there. He raised his bloodied muzzle to the wind and scented. The scent was there! "Scratch!" he yowled, his voice bubbling so terribly that it was almost inaudible. Then, his meow lowered and his voice became a soft hiss that drifted seductively into the wind. "Scratch..." The hiss echoed eerily, but it didn't bother the ghostly tom. "Scratch..." The huge purple orbs scanned the clearing once more, stretching his neck up to see better. The lifting of his head showed the deep wound that was buried into his throat; the source of his voice problem.
Alongside the large tom-ghost was a smaller figure. His pepper splotched pelt was ruffled. "Are you sure that they'll know it's us? What if they try to hurt us and we can't get away on time? Do you think that Bleak can--?"
"Shush, Twig. They come. Bleak not dare hurt; I kill him." The larger tom's scold was as hot as fire, but his voice was the normal gruff.
"Yes, Owl... I apologize for my overreaction," Twig meowed quietly, not getting an acceptance. "I guess I'd better do some calling, too, huh?" He smiled at his older brother, who didn't return the gesture. Frowning in disappointment, the yellow eyes lowered and he studied his bloody paws. Lifting his head once more, he allowed his hiss to carry around the area and hopefully reach his brother's ears. "Bleak... Bleak..."

Scratch followed Bleak through the forest towards the Ghost areas. He could hear his name being called and would have asked Bleak, but he knew that it was probably Owl calling for him. "Bleak." He looked around. "Do you hear that?"

Bleak lowered his head, his yellow eyes flickering around. "Yeah, it's Owl..." Then he heard the faint call of his own name, sending chills down his back. "Twig is with him... Come on, Owl doesn't like to be kept waiting," he meowed and picked up his pace to a brisk trot.
Twig looked up. "They're coming." "Good. Cats come, we train," Owl grunted.

Scratch nodded. He trotted after Bleak, speeding up with him. He looked around at the tall fence that had been made by Twolegs so long ago. They had mold and mildew growing on them, making them look eerie. He gazed up at them, feeling weird.

Owl glanced over his shoulder as the two toms appeared. "Good, you here... We start now, big tom." His violet eyes slid over to his little brother, narrowing with light hate. This was not his brother, it was his murderer. He looked over at Twig. "Take brother away. Train. Now," he commanded. He prowled forward some, leaping up onto the fence as soon as the two had left. He faced Scratch, teetering slightly. "Attack me. I Kahl. You want kill me."
Twig flinched slightly at hisbrother's harsh words. Turning away he meowed, "Come on, Bleak. Let's go." Without waiting for an answer, he bagan to pad away with his head lowered. What does it take to get a smile from you, Owl? I just want to see it once...
Bleak jumped slightly as he saw his brother's harsh gaze. He glanced hurriedly away. Hearing and seeing Twig, Bleak quickly brushed muzzles with his love. "Good luck," he murmured. "Love you." Turning away, the small tabby scrambled to catch u with his exiting brother.

Scratch pressed his muzzle against Bleaks in return. He didn't want his mate to leave, not sure what his brother was like. As the golden tabby turned to leave, he meowed, "love you too," back. He turned to his trainer. "Ok, what now?"

Owl's lips pulled back, baring his blood-stained fangs. "Listen!" he snapped. "No love. Hate only." He lowered himself to an awkward crouch that was considered a threatening stance. "Pay attention, Big-Tom. You want kill me. I Kahl. I going to kill Murder-Swipe." His tail swished challengingly. "I kill your love."

Scratch sighed. He jumped up to the wall, dropping into a ready position. He looked to the left side of Owl, acting like he would go for the left side. He wiggled his back end, jumped, and at the last moment turned to the right. He landed on Owl, and with his claws sheathed, pretending to scratch him on the face. He was know for his deadly scratch that he had once given a loner who had screwed with him too many times. "Take that Kahl," he meowed jokingly.

Owl had expected the move, but had tumbled convincingly off of the wall. The swipe that grazed his whiskers didn't even make him flinch. "No joking!" he snapped sternly. "You want make joke when Kahl try kill you and Murder-Swipe? Thought not." Standing up, the large ghost launched himself forward and tackled down the black cat with a powerful force. Positioning his paws to hold Scratch's chin and chest apart. Lowering his muzzle, Owl blew a strong gust of air at the live-one's neck. Stepping off of the black cat, Owl glared at him with disgust. "You be dead if was Kahl. Pitiful. Now, attack. Don't hold back claws. You not kill me; already dead." Owl turned away and padded a few steps off, turning around and lowering to a threatening crouch. "Go!" he screeched, pelting forward to meet the tom head-on.

Scratch was slightly irritated now and began to twitch the end of his tail. "Ugh," he muttered under his breath. He was surprised when Owl knocked him down and he let out an "oof." He gagged at the smell of the dead cats breath. He dug his claws into the cat, scratching up his underbelly. He pushed Owl off himself and crouched down low. He jumped on Owl and bite him of the neck. He jumped back to the wall and lifted his paw. He slashed Owl across the face. Dead my butt, he thought.

Owl smiled as the tom began to fight with meaning. "Good," he praised, the wounds that Scratch had just made magically healing over. Ghosts stayed how they were when they died, so that meant no more scratches. Springing up to the top of the wall, Owl sprang forward and pounced on the other tom. Pushing down Scratch, Owl held the tom's head over the edge of the fence. He pushed down hard and watched through slitted pupils as the tom plummeted. Let's see how good you are when you fall... Owl jumped down after Scratch, latching onto him as he attacked in midair. He clawed across the tom's back and chest. When they neared the ground, Owl pushed away and landed on his paws with a soft thud. He lifted his eyes to Scratch to see what he had done...

Scratch gasped as Owl pushed him off of the wall. He felt claws scratch him across the back and chest. He yowled on pain, but focused on his fall. He manouvered himself over so he would land on Owl. When he finished his fall, he landed square on the ghosts back. He dug his claws deep into the other toms pelt. He suddenly realized that it felt weird to be on top of another tom who wasn't Bleak. Awkward, he thought to himself. He crawled off the tom and felt the sting from the scratches he had left. "Owch Owl. You know, I don't heal like you do. That really hurts."

Owl snorted. "You think Kahl stop to when say got boo-boo?" he taunted. "No, you deal with pain." Shaking out his fur, the tom blasted forward and, just as he was near the other cat, turned and skidded. He rammed into Scratch with his side, throwing his weight at him. It would know the tom down, there was no doubt. Jumping out of reach, Owl opened his maw, blood dripping like the day he died. The scarlet liquid dripped down and landed with light pitter-patters. A blood-curdling hiss left the opened jaws. "Now, fight! No more whining! I am Kahl!" And with that note, the ghost changed, taking on the muscular figure of Kahl himself. His pelt now matched Bleak's, only larger. He lowered his head and hissed defiantly.

Scratch rolled his eyes at Owl. He knew that Kahl wouldn't care about him getting hurt, but this was just training. He was suddenly knocked down by the cat. Suddenly, he took the form of Kahl. The black tom jumped on his back, ignoring the awkward feeling it gave him. He dug his claws deep into the other toms pelt. He quickly pulled them up, leaving deep gashes in Owls pelt. He jumped back to the ground and crawled under him. He started to claw up his under belly, knowing that it would weaken Kahl in their real fight.

Pain, then nothing. That was exactly what Owl felt. The scratches that the other cat gave him swiftly healed over. Twisting to reach Scratch, Owl's fangs grabbed at his shoulder, pulling him out from under him. Using his might, Owl swung Scratch around, releasing him at a very high speed. The release sent the other cat many fox lengths away. Turning, Owl jumped up onto the fence, racing down it and away from Scratch. He must learn how to give chase in complicated areas... The fence was extremely hard to navigate, but Owl simply floated above it, moving away quickly.
