The Weakness of an Airhead

Hibiscus nodded. "I wish I could have kits. I never had the chance because none of the toms gave me the time of day." She couldn't help letting sadness into her voice. She hoped that Adder wouldn't notice.

OOC: I don't think my muse will ever come back...

Adder gave her a wry grin. "Do you mean dead or alive?" he asked her, then added hastily, "don't answer if it offends you." Then a new question quickly formed in his head. "How did you die anyway? How long have you been dead? Do ghosts age?" Yes, he knew it was more than one.

Hibiscus blushed. "Either. And no, it doesn't offend me." She then thought. "Well I died from illness." She paused to cough which led to a bit of wheezing. "I've been dead for 5 moons. Yes, ghosts age, the same as other cats would, so that we can eventually rest in peace."

Adder nodded thoughtfully. He was so shocked that he was carrying on a conversation with a ghost. He used to be willing to kill a cat to keep away from them.

Hibiscus thought of how even though no male had given her the time of day, if she liked them she had just kept it hidden. But that wasn't going to happen this time. So she blurted, "I like you."

Adder stared at her, not able to comprehend anything at the moment, mouth slack, eyes slowly widening as realization began to settle in. He opened his mouth, snapped his jaws shut with an audible snap, opened them again, blinked, and closed his mouth again. "I--I...well...I--" he stopped, utterly speechless. He'd never had a she-cat say she liked him...especially not a dead she-cat. He realized he probably needed to say something. He tried again. "Listen I-- well this has.... No one's ever--" he stopped again, this was too hard. He couldn't say anything to that face. That dang face that looked so...appealing...at the moment. He turned his back to her and spoke again. "Listen, Hibiscus...no one's ever told me they like...me. It feels..." he trailed off, trying to think of a word. Sheepishly he settled on, "nice. Th-thank you..." Adder then took a deep, shaky breath and turned to face her again, turning his head so only one eye was facing her. "I...think I like you...too."

Hibiscus gasped with happiness. "Really?!" A feeling she hadn't felt in a long time surged through her; joy. She smiled. "Will you be my mate then?"

Adder nodded happily.

OOC: Yup. It's weird that we just made a mate thing in a regular posting area. And I think it's funny that we never have muse on mate things
