Show me how to lie You’re getting better all the time And turning all against the one Is an art that’s hard to teach Another clever word Sets off an unsuspecting herd And as you get back into line A mob jumps to their feet
Now dance, f**ker, dance Man, he never had a chance And no one even knew It was really only you
And now you steal away Take him out today Nice work you did You’re gonna go far, kid
With a thousand lies And a good disguise Hit ‘em right between the eyes Hit ‘em right between the eyes When you walk away Nothing more to say See the lightning in your eyes See ‘em running for their lives You're Gonna Go Far Kid by The Offspring "Come on Amberkit. Not much farther." Hawkstripe meowed, following Hawkfrost's faded pelt closely. He wasn't even sure where they were going, because it all linked back to Tigerstar. Hawkstripe figured he'd want one of his descendants to join him, and now he understood Hawkfrost's little game in the Gathering.
Hawkfrost stopped abruptly, and Hawkstripe almost barreled over Amberkit in his attempt to not touch his ancestor's pelt. He and Tigerstar hated being passed through.
I learned that the hard way, Hawkstripe thought, glancing at the scar running up one leg.
Hawkfrost walked silently into the clearing, sitting beside Tigerstar. Hawkstripe was again taken back by how similar their pelts were. His was too, only in a different color. But his kit's was the most unique, a torbie. He glanced back at her and whispered, "Can you see two other cats?"

The torbie kit walked through the forest, following her dad. Everything was so... big. Looking at her dad when he spoke, she said, "Daddy, where are we going? I-I thought that I wasn't supp-posed to leave camp until I was owder?"
When her dad asked her if she saw two other cats, Amberkit looked ahead and nodded. "Yes. Who are dey?"
OOC: Couldn't resist using baby talk... even though I kinda broke a rule.. oh well

OOC: Tigerstar's color is brown, Hawkfrost's is light blue
"They are our ancestors. Our famous ancestors. Tigerstar and Hawkfrost. They need to speak with you." Hawkstripe whispered, wrapping his tail around his daughter and pulling her in front of the two ghostly toms.
Tigerstar looked down at the kit without bothering to actually tilt his head. He had been hoping for a son...but maybe a she-cat could do better than all the toms have. Maybe a she-cat could rule the forest. Tawnypelt had great potential, if only she would have chosen to train. Oh well.
Hawkfrost sneered at the small kit. That was definitely not the face of pure evil. She didn't look as though she could harm a mouse, let alone kill hundreds of cats. Then his sneer melted into a frown. Training her would be hard. Very hard. He glanced at his father, a glint of doubt in his icy eyes.
"Welcome Amberkit." Tigerstar began, a small note of doubt creeping into his voice as he watched the small face and round eyes. "Does the name Tigerstar or Hawkfrost or Brambleclaw sound familiar to you?" he asked, careful not to spit out his other son's name.

The kit was about to ask why they needed to talk to her whn she was stopped by a voice. He welcomed her, then asked her if she had heard of some cats.
"No. Who are dey?" Amberkit was curious to know about the cats. She looked at the two cats she didn't know and noticed they were both very big and muscled like her dad.
OOC: Sorry so short. No muse and I'm typing on my iPod

"Tigerstar was the legend of the elder Clans. Clans that haven't been seen or heard of in ages. The Clans of Thunder: weak and spineless, River: slimy and greedy, Wind: small and pathetic, and Shadow: stronger and braver than them all. Tigerstar was born in the weak ThunderClan, but moved his ranks to those of stronger cats, he moved to ShadowClan. He stuck fear into every cat's soul, made his name a curse, and has managed to continue a blood line through all of these generations. He and his son, Hawkfrost, have ruled the ancient forest, and are now training their successors. I am Tigerstar." the large brown tabby spoke with authority and strength, his voice rising and falling in perfect melody.
"And I am Hawkfrost." the other tabby added, his icy eyes staring at his decendant, Hawkstripe.
"And I am Hawkstripe," the orange tom with black tabby markings began, feeling his dead kin's gazes on him. "I am your father, the eldest blood-tie to our ancestors, and I shall train you, Amberkit, as my succesor. As the next ruler of the forest, ad even in death I shall be whispering in your ear. We shall rule together until the day you die, then we shall begin to train the next generation." Hawkstripe finished, gazing at his daughter.
"Do you chose to accept Amberkit?" all toms asked the kit at once, their voices shockingly similar in depth and purr.

The kit looked at the cat, who named himself Tigerstar, in awe. He was the biggest cat she had ever seen, even though she hadn't seen that many. He had a deep voice, that was very similar to her fathers.
Then she looked at his son, Hawkfrost. He was smaller than his father, but looked about the same, and also had about the same voice.
Turning to her father, Amberkit listened as he talked.
When they all asked her the same question in unison, she could really hear the similarities in their voices. She was slightly confused about the whole thing, but she figured she had nothing to loose by accepting, so she answered, "I guess..." while looking at the ground.
Then she looked up and at her father, and asked him, "Does mommy know about dis?"

Hawkstripe answered his daughter immediately, with as much truth as he could. "No, but mommy's really busy, dear. We agreed to each raise a different kit to make it easier for us, and I am raising you the way I was. No reason to tell her."
Tigerstar cleared his throat, returning the attention back to him. He cast his descendant a pointed look before speaking to Amberkit. "Thank you, Amberkit. You will be seeing more of me in your dreams..."
The dark marked tom then turned his amber eyes on his son, Hawkfrost. He nodded his head slightly, and his pelt began to fade. His eyes stayed bright and solid for a few moments after the rest of him disappeared, then they too did.
Hawkfrost watched his father fade, then turned to Amberkit as Hawkstripe stepped out of the way.
"We shall begin your training now." he meowed, standing up. "What do you know about fighting?"
Hawkstripe went to the opposite side of the clearing, there would be claws flying soon and he'd prefer to stay out of reach. It only upset him a little that his kit would soon get her first cuts and scratches. Soon she would be the terror of the forest.

The kit tilted her head and stared at Hawkfrost. "Ummm.... I don't really know anything about fighting. I've never learned anything about it."
Putting her head back to where it normally was, she started jumping up and down. "Are we going to learn about fighting today?!" Amberkit's voice was full of excitement.
OOC: No muse...

"Yes," Hawkfrost meowed, inwardly rolling his eyes. "We are going to learn about fighting." Hawkfrost thought a moment, then decided he'd start simply. "Try to attack me." he commanded, sitting down and waiting patiently.
OOC: Me neither

The kit nodded, getting into an awkward position that she thought looked suitable enough. She glanced around, trying to disguise when she was going to attack. But she had to look at Hawkstripe before she jumped at him, so she wouldn't make a fool of herself by missing. She lunged at him and...
OOC: I put the '...' so you can add what happened.

Hawkfrost easily side-stepped the attack. Struggling to not roll his eyes, the brown tabby tom placed his paw on the back of the small torbie kitten. His claws unsheathed, but didn't dig in, he just let them rest on the odd-colored fur. His blue eyes narrowed at the young kit.
"That was terrible." he meowed bluntly. "You're attempt at disgusing the attack was more obvious than if you would have yelled 'I'mma attack you now!' before jumping. And running straight at a cat barely does any good unless you're twice the size of your opponent."

OOC: I can't see Hawkfrost saying, 'Imma attack you now!" By the way....
The kitten nodded, a grave look coming onto her face. She sighed inwardly, knowing she had let her father down.
Standing up straight, she looked at her opponent. She was determined to do better than before.
Amberkit ran at Hawkfrost. At the last moment, she dove under him and knocked out his two back paws. They did collapse like she wanted them to, but they landed on her. Yowling out in pain, she pulled herself out and looked at the ground, knowing how horrible she did.

Hawkfrost turned around and fixed his cool gaze on Amberkit. "You need to use our heights and sizes to your advantage. Haven't you ever heard the bigger they are the harder they fall? Attack me in a way I can't stop you, but you can still hurt me." he told her, then glanced at Hawkstripe. He narrowed his eyes at his son. The tom hadn't taught his daughter anything.
Hawkstripe bowed his head in embarrassment, he hadn't trained his daughter before. He had never thought about it. It wasn't until Tigerstar told him about this meeting that Hawkstripe realized she would be his successor.

Amberkit thought hard about what Hawkfrost said. She searched and searched her mind, but it came up blank. Absolutely blank. She looked up at Hawkfrost and said, "I don't know how to do that."

"Well if you were to jump on the back of my neck, between my shoulders, I would never be able to reach a cat your size." Hawkfrost offered, growing impatient with the little progress they'd made.
