The stream bubbled up, its murky water turning red with blood. The moonlight caught the waves as it danced downstream. The river was headed for jagged rocks where the current was too strong to swim in. Once at the rocks the river steeply dropped. No creature could survive the fall...At least that's what most thought.
The pool in which the river emptied gurgled in protest as a bloodied wolf staggered from its red depths. He dropped as his hind legs freed themselves from the muddy water. The creature's tail dangled in the water, being tugged by the never ending current.
A low growl erupted form the near dead creature's throat. His yellow eyes snapped open and he lifted his lip, baring his yellowed teeth. His muscles rippled under his bloody brown fur as he struggled to stand up.With a massive effort the great wolf stood up. He shook the blood and water from his tangled brown fur.
Slowly setting each paw in front of the other, the injured wolf managed to walk into the shelter of the trees.
