Equinox stalked through the forrest. The leaves were springy under his feet and he felt lighter then he had for many, many moons. He was filled with a ceaseless energy and his heart felt like It would burst with the excitement of being alive and having the wind blowing through his fur. Equinox bounded after a small rabbit that was foolish enough to cross his path, but as he got closer the rabbit seemed to grow larger, until it was the size of a dog. It turned on him and bounded forwards, Fangs sprouted from lengthening jaws. Its eyes narrowed and its body became lean, its legs lengthened and its brown silky fur became a course black coat. The dog howled and lunged towards Equinox. He screamed in terror and tried to run. His legs wouldn't move fast enough and he seemed to be covering ground a rabbit hop to the dogs every long legged stride. The Dog was coming for him.
Equinox screeched again, putting every last bit of energy into running. He looked down at his paws. They looked wrong! they were all over sized and floppy like a kits! His hard muscles were turning into soft kitten fat. Equinox screamed again, it sounded like a mewl and the dog was even closer! A black cat raced past him, letting loose a wailing growl. It sounded like Bleak! another cat Sped past, Scratch? together they attacked the dog, It through them off easily, sending them flying amongst the trees. It ran towards Equinox again, jaws gaping wide. It grabbed him by the scruff and........ Darkness.
Equinox mewled pitifully and writhed around in soft moss. a rough tongue licked his pelt and he opened his eyes. Equinox yowled in shock and jumped to his feet. Only to trip over like a new born kit. His Mother bent over him and licked his face. Equinox snarled angrily at her. She sat back and examined him with a cold look. 'Shut your mouth you ungrateful kit!' she snapped. 'Shut it or I'll shut it for you!' Equinox shrank back, trembling. He hissed in terror and tried to crawl away. A heavy paw slammed down against his back. 'WHERE DO YOU THINK YOUR GOING?!!!!!' His mother roared in fury. 'I AUGHT TO KILL YOU HERE AND NOW YOU WORTHLESS SACK OF BONES!!!!' Equinox struggled free and found he could run. He sprinted away, his mind blurred with fear. 'THATS RIGHT! RUN YOU SELFISH KIT! I WAS RIGHT TO LEAVE YOU! I WAS RIGHT!!!!' Equinox kept running.
The forest faded behind him until he was running through blackness. Make it stop, please make it stop He whimpered. Equinox opened his eyes. He found himself in the den that he had been using for many moons now. With a gasp he lept to his feet and ran out of the hollow tree. Equinox stood in the sun, shaking and panting. He sank to the ground and covered his eyes with his paws. Just a dream He whispered to himself, Just a dream Equinox took a deep shuddering breath and sat up. He was still shaking but had got control of his breathing. He felt incredibly stupid. Imagine being so scared of a nightmare. But he knew that it wasn't the dog, or his mother that was worrying him now. It was the strange appearance of the two cats who Equinox had met some moons before. Equinox knew it was only a dream, but it felt like more then that. He was worried if they were somehow hurt. Equinox shook his head. He was being stupid. No part of that dream could ever of been real. He sat, shivering despite the suns warmth and debated whether he should go find the two fierce cats.

Light paws traveled at a brisk trot as a golden brown tabby made his way along. His mind wasn't with the present, the wheels turning backwards to all that had happened earlier. Something wouldn't let him sleep, so he had told Scratch that he was going to take a walk. "Don't follow me," he had growled. He hadn't meant to be that vicious with his lover, but something was gnawing at him like a flea. He had no idea where his paws were taking him, but he didn't really care. Turning the wheels further back, the tom's yellow eyes became a little rounder at his memories. His father's pelt had flashed out, and bowled into him, causing the worst pain the little cat had ever felt. A shudder pasted through the tom's body just by the thought of it. Something just doesn't feel right... Bleak hadn't realized that he had walked all the way to the forest. Now, he was lost and confused. Bleak's tabby paws slowed to a tentative pace, his orbs scanning every shadow. A slight wave of fear was tickling at Bleak's stomach, giving him a sick feeling. The sun was burning down on him, making his pelt uncomfortably hot. Darkness! I need the dark! his mind yowled. Bleak glanced around, then swiftly ran into an area that held no sun. The cool ground felt good, but he was too weary about finding his dad to take comfort. Backing up, deeper into the shadows, something poked Bleak in the side. Whipping around, the cat nearly slammed into his father's figure. "No! Get away from me!" Bleak screamed, turning and pelting away from the cat. A loud laugh rang deep into the little cat's ears. "You can't run from me," the voice of his father meowed. Bleak shook his head wildly and picked up his pace. Not seeing where he was going, Bleak tripped and rolled to a halt. Glancing around, he saw a den. Badger? Fox? No, it smelled familiar, a cat's scent. Bleak stared fearfully at the gaping hole, not daring to move.

Equinox was startled from his worrying by a screech. and then the tripping thud of paws. A familiar smell drifted into his den and his left ear twitched. Bleak? What was he doing here, and without scratch? Equinox poked his head out of the small entrance to his den. seeing the black cat standing stock still outside his den, looking like someone had died Equinox forgot his dream and squeased through the hole. It seemed amazing that such a big cat could fit through such a small gap but he managed it with ease. Bleak? Equinox said in shock, Whats wrong, are you allright, is Scratch hurt? Equinox felt his heart contract as he remembered his dream. Is it a dog? he asked, fur standing on end.

OOC:: Hun... Bleak is a tabby, not black...
Bleak breathed a sigh of relief at the sight of Equinox. "Thank goodness it's you! No, Scratch is fine. I'm just, you know, losing my mind!" Bleak laughed hysterically, showing that there was something wrong, but he didn't want to talk. Giving a massive shrug, the little tabby grinned. "Hehe... I guess I'm not really alright. I've completely lost my mind! I'm running from a ghost, for crying out loud!" Bleak then registered what the other tom had said. "Why would you think that there was a dog?" he asked, leaning forward. His eyes narrowed slightly in a questioning manner. Why would Equinox wonder about a dog chasing him? Was it relative to the day they had met? That seemed like the only way Bleak could think of it.

OOC: oopsies!
IC: Equinox laughed nervously. ha, I don't think your the only mad one around here! he joked. It was nothing realy.... just a dream, a very real dream... but still...... He grinned at the TABBY cat, then the full meaning of Bleaks words struck him. He was chased by a ghost? It all sounded a little strange but Equinox took it all in his stride. Who was the ghost? he asked curiously, nope, not a word about how most cats didn't believe in ghosts, just 'who was it' Equinox was usually a trusting cat, although that didn't make him naive. He was pretty sure that Bleak wouldn't lie about some thing that made him look weak. So Equinox had two choices. Believe that Bleak had been chased by a ghost, or that Bleak had gone crazy. Equinox knew that at this point it didn't matter and the questions to ask were ultimately the same. Thinking like this made Equinox admit to himself that maybe he wasn't the most usual cat either.

Bleak glanced up, his eyes wide. Who was it; the question was a shock. "Well, umm..." Bleak stammered. The little tabby tom shuffled his paws, picking around his mind for something to say. "You wouldn't really believe me, but I guess if you must know..." He took in a deep breath. "My father is the ghost. He isn't a ghost ghost, but he's there and he attacks me. I just want to run away from him, that's all." The tom looked up at Equinox and his tabby pelt. Maybe I can trust him on this... For once, the voice that ranted in the back of his mind was silent. It was creepy, and it sent chills up the little cat's spine. Something was definitely not right about the silence...

The fur went up on the back of Equinox's neck. your father? He said softly. That could explain it Bleak! Equinox said, rather excitedly. You know those Clan cats? I've heard they 'speak' to their warrior ancestors! maybe thats what your father is? Equinox didn't think it was at all strange that Bleak was running from his father. After all, His mother 'haunted' him, if only in a different way. What does your father want from you? Equinox asked then quickly added; Stop me if I'm being to nosy, I am, essentially, a curious cat, And Like my dear Mother used to say; Curiosity killed the cat. Equinox growled softly at the mention of his mother, It reminded him of his dream. aware of his grim mood he said to lighten it. But I came up with another part of that! 'But satisfaction brought him back!' so there! Take that mother! he thought viciously. Equinox was quite aware that he was acting unusual, but he always was, so it wasn't much of a difference.
OOC: Curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought him back..... That is one of my favorite rhymes... not many people know the last part though.

OOC:: Sounds sweet!!
Bleak blinked as Equinox rambled on, but didn't dare stop him. "No, no, no, you're not being nosy at all!" Bleak meowed like the question was completely unexpected. "Maybe my father is trying to contact me! I can't really think of a reason why he would be haunting me like that, though... But he once told me that we have 'unfinished family business' so that might have something to do with it." The riddle that the other tom said was definitely a shock. It fit perfect with his father. "You know what Equinox? You, my friend, are a genius!" Bleak jumped to his paws and did a swift circle of joy. This was really helping him! This was like two bounds forward in figuring out why his father was visiting him. Then, the small smile on the little tom's muzzle faded. "But, it still doesn't explain why he attacks me every time..." he mewed.

Equinox tilted his head to one side. He didn't feel like a genius. just an over alarmed cat. It shocked him to hear that Bleaks father attacked him, but then, his mother had, until he had run away. Why would he attack you? Equinox asked with a frown. He raked his gaze over the little cat, trying to find any form of wounds. And maybe you should attack him first. I would if it were me. I think, and don't go tearing at my throat Bleak, but I think that by attacking you first he's, well dominating you. Dunno, but its what I would do. Equinox didn't add that he probably would never have the courage to attack first himself, but he wasn't going to tell Bleak that. It seemed that he needed all the help he could get. Equinox licked a paw and drew it over his ear. He narrowed his eyes thoughtfully. Or you could just run away. But from what I've heard once your a ghost or whatever your faster then normal cats.... Though I wouldn't exactly call you normal Bleak.

Bleak narrowed his eyes, taking in each fact that the other tom was giving. Not normal? The little cat shook off the thought. "Hmn," he sounded thoughtfully, "how do I attack him, though? When he's near, I panic. There's no time to think about attacking first." Bleak looked away, ashamed. He was a coward when his father appeared. He couldn't control the fear that simmered up inside of him, and his only intention was to get out alive. Then, an idea wormed its way into the tom's mind. "Maybe it's because I panic that I can't win! I bet if I can stay calm, I can win!" Bleak grinned and nodded. "You're right, Equinox. I'm not normal!"
OOC:: Sorry, my muse is climbing aboard the fail boat...

OOC: I know what it's like. Mine has already sailed off into the horizon.
IC: Equinox shook his head. I'm glad you realize that Bleak He said wryly. And I don't blame you for panicking, truth be told I'd probably just run away. Equinox didn't like to admit it but he sensed that Bleak was angry at himself. Of course, the small cat was hard to read, even for Equinox, who was a great at reading others intension's and feelings. He had picked the skill up from a grumpy old tom he had followed around when he was a kit. Have you told your mate? Equinox asked. I'm sure he would help, and I'm certain he'd want to know about all this Equinox was a very non-judgmental cat. It didn't bother him in the slightest that two of his friends, well, he thought of them as friends, he didn't know what they thought, but it didn't bother him that they were gay. He had met many strange cats in his life and could probably be counted as one of them. Everything leaves its mark he murmured cryptically.
OOC: YES! I have caught my ship! good luck with yours! ;D

OOC:: I'll try...
Bleak flicked his gaze around, his mood swings becoming frequent. He was nervous. "I have told Scratch... They can't help. Only I can see him; he takes advantage of it too! He's already attacked me right in front of Scratch and Ash." Bleak looked into the shadows, looking for the tabby figure of his father; nothing. Looking back to Equinox, Bleak realized that he didn't know Ash. "Ash is my adoptive mother. She comes and visits Scratch and me sometimes. She wants to meet you someday. She thinks you sound like a good cat, the way you helped us the first time we met." The little tabby smiled softly. Something was slowly falling deep into place, but the tom was refusing to think about it until now. I don't hear the voice when Equinox is around... Wonder what that could mean? The tabby shook his head and sighed to himself, then glanced back up at the orange tom. There was something going on that Bleak didn't like, but he hid it with a smile.
OOC:: Woo! Recovery!

OOC: YAY!
IC: Equinox nodded thoughtfully. Well if he is indeed, like the ancestors of the warrior cats he can probably choose who sees him, but I've never heard of a ghost cat that has actually attacked another... He frowned slightly then said Ash is your adoptive mother?, whys that? And of course I'd love to meet her too, and Scratch again...... hmmm did that make sense? Equinox grinned suddenly. I am terrible with grammar!

Bleak chuckled softly. "It made enough sense," he meowed. "And, yes, she is considered my adoptive mother. My mother was never the mother type, so I figured that everyone deserves a real mother, and Ash fit the description perfectly." Bleak shuffled his paws. Something was bothering him, but he couldn't place it...
OOC:: Sorry it's short, but I have to go work out with my sister...

Equinox put his head to one side thoughtfully. Yes, I can understand how you feel like that. Equinox frowned at Bleak. He was shifting from paw to paw as if he was impatient. Am I annoying you? if I am you can go. You don't have to talk to me if you don't want to, you know. Equinox hoped he hadn't annoyed the small cat, he couldn't think how he would of, may be it was his obsessive questioning. He flicked his tail anxiously.
