Equinox's grin stretched wider. 'well we have that in common too! My mother always thought I was a waste of space and time and who knows what else!' Equinox yawned suddenly. 'Hell I'm tired! I haven't had a proper sleep since...... forever.' Equinox shrugged dismissively. 'But thats what livings like, at least for me. Never turn your back Bleak. Enemy's like to attack from behind, but don't be forever looking behind you, cause you don't know whats around the corner waiting for you.' Equinox came out of his suddenly black mood. 'unless you grow eyes in the back of your head, but that may take a while, so while your waiting you can think as yourself as prey. Always hunted, always watchful.' Equinox's mood changes were giving himself a headache. He grinned at Bleak. 'Ignore me, I'm just a rambling young Tom who's seen to much. you live your life and learn stuff yourself, it's much harder that way, but you learn it more thoroughly, and you don't forget it easily' Equinox fell silent, contemplating how crazy he must sound. Sometimes he swore he was.

Bleak blinked softly and nodded. "No, you're right. I am prey; prey that mostly feared by others but is terrified on the inside. I need to be watchful, but still be able to see the path before me." Bleak purred at Equinox's comment. "And you are not just rambling. I got good information out of you." Padding forward, Bleak rubbed his nose softly against Equinox's. He then turned away, glancing over his shoulder. "Thanks, Equinox," he meowed. "Thank you very much. I would still be lost without you. Now," he changed the subject with a smile, "go get some sleep and I need to get home. Bye!" And with that, the small tabby tom turned and pelted away, his paws as light as air.

Equinox smiled, pleased that he was able to help his friend. He watched as Bleak walked away and then he turned back to his den and sliped inside the tight gap. He curled up in a ball in the soft moss and feathers he had gathered. Equinox rested his head on his bright orange paws and closed his eyes. He felt that, if his mother did come to him in his dreams again, he'd be ready.
