Shrill flicked her ears, her mouth in the shape of a small oval. "Oh... I see..." She seemed slightly distracted. Suddenly, she caught the soft sound of a twig crying out as it was snapped. The white cat shot to her paws. "Ash," she hissed, "come on. Now." She didn't wait for an answer and pelted forward, her whiskers flattening to her face and her fur dripping. Please be behind me, Ash...

Ash, in a daze, followed Shrill's ghostly body through the forest. "Where are we going? What's wrong?" Ash asked, unsheathing her claws and letting her neck fur bristle and stand up. She kept on the other she-cat's heels as they ran, and Ash made sure she was alert.

Shrill looked over her shoulder at the black she-cat. "I'm sorry, Ash," she panted. "I kept us out too late. We have to get to our sleeping spot now. Hurry, before they catch you!"
Soul could make out muffled sounds, not paw steps, though. They were the groans and cries of the Disturbed Walkers. They were dead cats, ghosts, like Shrill. But, they were the reason why ghosts had such a bad profile. They were the groans in the wind, the frush across the bask of your neck, the 'who' when you call 'who's there' and get no answer.
"Just keep running, ignore them. Don't even look around! Watch my tail tip." Shrill lowered her tail until it was almost brushing the grass. If Ash stared at that, she wouldn't be able to see the Disturbed.

Ash, normally never willing to obey orders, was worried about Shrill's voice. She sounded scared, and so urgent. So, for the first time, Ash did what she was told without arguing, staring at Shrill's tail tip.

The groans became louder. "Ash, we're going to stop, but keep your eyes on the ground. If you don't see them, they most likely won't see you." And with those, words, Shrill slammed on the breaks and wheeled around.
Hovering before her were the translucent bodies of the Disturbed. They were so misunderstood. Tears streaked their fur, blood coated their bodies. "Paeniteo!" Shrill cried. "Reverto ut vestri quietus locus!" Her foreign language rang deep in the back of her throat. The figures looked confusedly at one another, but soon one came forth. He was muscular and dripping with his own blood.
"Nos volo suus," he meowed. Shrill tensed. That meant 'we want her.' Rediscovering her Latin, the white cat snarled.
"Vos can't have suus! Is est moror quod ago!" she commanded. "Ash!" she hissed in English. "Run! They want you! Go, I'll keep them back! They don't know English so they haven't a clue to what I told you. Go!"

Ash, who had been obediantly looking at the ground, looked up at Shrill. "No." she hissed quietly. "I'm not leaving you." Ash then decided to see what she was even running from. They were strange floating, translucent bodies, with blood and tear stained fur. Slowly, Ash's neck fur brislted and her navy eyes widened.

"NO!" Shrill screeched. "Don't look, Ash! They want you! You're only improving their sight of you!" Solidifying with the Breath of Life, Shrill launched herself at Ash. Slamming into the she-cat, the white cat began to drag her away, shoving her with her paws and tugging at her scruff. "Go! I won't get hurt!"
"Adepto suus," the leading Disturbed meowed. As the wave of Disturbed Walkers advanced, Shrill panicked. "Quod iuguolo ceterus"
"EGO sum admonitio vos, subsisto absentis," Shrill hissed. Her yellow eyes were so wide that you could see the ring of white around her irises. They didn't slow, so the white cat extended her head and opened her mouth, drawing in a deep breath.
She screeched.
Her throat gurgled with the water in it, her shrill cry echoing through the world. You could almost see the sound-waves leaving the white cat's mouth. The Disturbed froze, pain streaking their sorrowful faces. They hissed and spat, backing away through the air. Their bodies became harder and harder to see. Then they vanished. Shrill's cry stopped and she stood over Ash protectively, panting as if she had been running for days.
"adveho, I mean come," she corrected herself. She had become so attached to the language that she forgot Ash didn't really speak it. "That only keeps them back for a while. Let's go, and move fast, okay?" Not okay. As soon as Shrill stepped off of the black cat, her legs began to tremble. After three steps, they buckled and she fell.

(OOC: Okay, I translated that and it made no sense!)
Ash ran up to Shrill and licked her gently between the ears. "What do they want?" she whispered, not daring to look back at the creatures she had seen. Ash wished there was something she could do, but she didn't speak the language the ghost-cat spoke.

OOC:: It's just Latin... Maybe it was because I typed in complete sentences?
Shrill grunted, trying desperately to lift herself up. "They always want something new," she meowed. "They have never had a main target. This time, you were their target. They stay intent un said target until the sun comes up, so it's best if we get to Owl and Twig fast." With one massive heave, the she-cat hauled herself up and began to hobble to where the duo was going.

"BUt why am I their target?" ASh asked, pressing up against the ghostly she-cat to give her less weight to carry. She looked straight ahead, not willing to increase their desire for her. "Where are Owl and Twig, anyway?" she asked, realizing she'd never been around here, before. Ash had traveled to many different parts of the forest, sometimes going places she'd never want to on field trips with Ruby. Ruby always tried to teach her something at each place, mostly about plants and what they can do to benefit you.

"Right here!" came a cheerful call from the ghost, Twig. He bounded out of nowhere and came up to the she-cats, his near-silent brother at his side. Twig gave a big flashy grin to the girls as Owl's muscular figure prowled forward to Shrill. He gently led her away from Ash and laid her down. As he began to cast a healing spell over her, Twig's smile faded.
Still no smile...
"Twig, take her to sleep quarters," Owl meowed flatly, his attention on Shrill.
Twig's smile was now completely gone. "Yes, brother," he meowed softly, flicking his tail for Ash to follow. Leaving his two siblings, Twig began to slowly pad away towards their shelter. His head was low, his tail drooping. Twig was a cat that loved to make others smile, and when Owl ignored him like that, it got him down.
"Shrill will be fine," he called over his shoulder without looking. "Owl is an amazing healer. She's just worn out from her scream. She does that to get the Disturbed away." he shrugged as if the topic didn't interest him. His mind was still on Owl and his emotionless face. He sighed. Just forget it, Twig... He's never gonna smile at you... Just give up on trying...

Ash glared at Owl as she passed. She had an immediate dislike for this cat. She hesitated, staring intensly at Twig before following. She trusted her gut more than anything. Twig didn't aggitate her like Owl did, so she followed, running to catch up with him. As he told her of Owl's healing skills, she just shrugged. She could heal with herbs, he could cheat and heal with powers. She preferred her way.
Walking beside him, Ash began to pay more attention to Twig. He was walking, tail low, head dropped. "Hey, are you okay?" Ash asked, narrowig her eyes at him. No bad waves were coming off him, her gut thought he was fine. Just sad.

Twig looked over at the black she-cat. "It's nothing," he murmured. "You shouldn't worry about me. I just have random moments of depression." He smiled weakly at her.
"I just don't like to be ignored. Owl makes that sort of worse. He isn't a cat that shows much emotion, so... and all I want is a smile, but..."
Meanwhile, Owl and Shrill were loping to catch up with the two travelers. Just as Twig finished his sentence, Shrill appeared, then her brother. Owl's eyes were fixed on his sister, being sure that she was fine and the spell was working until he could properly heal her.

As Owl came into view, even though Ash's back was to him, her neck fur stood on end. She glanced behind her and narrowed her eyes. Oddly, she just didn't like Owl. She had no reason to explain it. Myabe it was because he used magick. Magick was made up, it wasn't real. Well, maybe if you were a ghost. But it was weakness, laziness, lack of ability, to use. The real stuff, herbs, got you close to the patient, proved you were patient enough to work, it taught you control. Magick taught you to rely on others. Ash didn't do that.
"Well, don't expect too many smiles outa me," Ash mewed quietly to Twig, lifting one lip in a half snarl, it was barely a smile. "I don't like smiling, or frowning... I don't like emotions in general."

Twig's eyes grew wide and he shrank away from Ash. Scary cat. Stay away. "But, everyone has emotions!" he protested quietly, watching his paws. "Even now, you do." His eyes flicked over to her's for a moment without the movement of his head. He gave a soft sniff. "Lots from you. Fear, anger, worry. A lot of negative emotions are laid over the good emotions inside of you." He brought his head up and looked directly at Ash. "Love, protectiveness for the ones you care for, maybe even joy! You--"
"Twig." Owl's meow interrupted the exciting tom-ghost. He was walking with his eyes shut, his forehead scrunched up lightly as he thought. "Calm. You know what happen when too excited. Little lady say she no show, she no show."
"Owl," Shrill scolded gently. Owl ignored her and opened his eyes, the orbs bearing down on Ash's black pelt. "You strange cat," he told her. "Why no run from Disturbed? You should listen to Shrill, she know more." It was close to a complete sentence with correct grammar. The gash across the tom's throat tingled and he coughed lightly to rid himself of the feeling. He could tell this cat had a deep dislike for him already, so he figured he would return to ordeal.
