Sicarius trugded along the forest path, his fur was matted with mud and dried blood. Sighing with impatience, he sat down to groom himself. As he groomed he heard the bushes beside him russle. Raising his large, furry head he growled in a low, menacing voice. "Who are you?" Sicarius paused, waiting for a reply. When no reply came, he narrowed his eyes and rose his voice, demanding, "show yourself!" Then the bushes rustled again and a giggle came from the bushes behind him.
The massive brown wolf wjipped around and jumped into the bushes and shrubs. He hit another creature, knocking it off its legs and they rolled into a sunny clearing. The smaller creature and Sicarius sprang apart, snarling at each other. The other creature was a wolf. She was a lithe, pretty she-wolf. She had blue eyes that flared like blue flames and a white body. Her ears and tail were black.
"Who are you and what are you following me for?" Sicarius growled loudly.
The pretty white wolf sat down and said with laughter in her soft voice, I'm Sang and I wasn't following you! I just happened to be going the same way as you!" She flicked her tail in the air.
Sicarius glared at her. "Don't treat me so nasty, I'm the wolf who survived Jagged Drop. Adn let me tell you, I will never do it again."
Sang rolled her eyes at the male wolf's cockyness. "Then why'd you do it in the first place?"
Sicarius laughed dryly and snarled, "I didn't do it on purpose. I was pushed."
Sang gasped in horror, "who would do that? Every creature in the forest knows that kills everyone but you!"
Sicarius growled, "Cruor did it."
"Who's Cruor?"
"A black wolf with a white sock on his left foreleg. His eyes are a blood red and he has a spiked collar around his neck. He claimed he was captured by humans."
Sang's blue eyes flared in anger and she growled, "I know him. He killed my mother."
Sicarius nodded and shuddered, remembering the blood red stare.
"So where are you going, anyway?" Sang asked, the taunting smirk back.
"None of your business!" Snapped Sicarius.
"Well, where ever you're going, I am!" Sang barked in excitement, her blue eyes dancing.
"I am not taking a snot-nose brat with me!" Sicarius gowled loudly, baring his teeth.
Sang's expression flashed to what seemed like disapointed for a heartbeat before returning to her daring smile. "Even if you don't let me come with me, I'll just follow you."
Sicarius just rolled his eyes and shook his head. Then he got up and walked away, leaving Sang sitting there. After a few pawstep Sicarius was painfully reminded of his broken leg. He laid down carefully and sighed. He wouldn't get anywhere with his leg broken.
He sighed again and closed his eyes. When he opened them he saw Sang standing above him. She was smirking and she laughed as she said, "Well you got far, Soilder Boy."
"Shut up...I broke my leg when I fell down Jagged Drop."
"Well if it's medical treatment you need, I'm you're girl!"
"I don't need your help!" Sicarius growled.
"I think you do!" Sang replied.
Sicarius sighed, knowing the she-wolf was right, and held his leg out.
"Good boy!" Sang laughed as she bent down to examine the leg. "Now, I need a splint..." Sang muttered, nosing the ground for something. She found a pile of sticks and chose four, setting them beside Sicarius. She then found a long strand of ivy attached to a tree. She used her sharp fangs to knip off a piece. Taking her ivy, she went and sat beside Sicarius again.
"Okay, this will hurt," she warned. "So do NOT bite me!" Sang growled before bending down by the injured leg.
"Whatever, just do i-" Sicarius was cut off with a yowl as the she-wolf slid the bones into place.
"Told you." Sang said, smiling. She then took a twig and tied the ivy to it and the leg. She did this with the rest of the sticks.
"There, all better!" The pretty she-wolf barked. "But don't try standing up yet. You will have to rest at least a moon".
Sicarius's eyes widened as he said, mortified, "I can't just lay around for a moon! How will I get food? Water?"
Sang rolled her blue eyes and growled, "I will hunt for you and get you water. I have to check your leg's progress anyway."
Sicarius sighed and said, "but we can't just stay put in the open like this!"
Again, Sang got agitated. "I'll take you to a cave, idiot!" As she spoke she offered Sicarius her shoulder for support. Using the strong she-wolf's shoulder for suppory the two made theirt way to a small cave.
As soon as they were inside, Sicarius plopped down. He had worked his leg too much for one day.
"I'll be right back. I'm gonna go hunt! Stay HERE!" She commanded, running out of the cave.
Great, Sicarius thought, I have to have a stupid she-wolf look after me."
Sang came back in, holding two large rabbits in her jaws. She set one down in front of Sicarius and set the other a little way off. "I'll go get you some water." Sang muttered, strolling out of the cave again, leaving Sicarius to his rabbit.
The hungry wolf tore a piece of flesh off the rabbit and atwe it quickly. He savored every warm bite. He then got another chunk.
Sang returned, a pile of wet moss in her jaws. She dropped the moss in front of Sicarius's paws. "Drink." She ordered, returning to her rabbit.
Sicarius obeyed immediately, letting the cool water soothe his sore throat. Sang then pointedly cleared her throat.
"What?" Siacarius asked, tearing another chunk off of his rabbit.
"You owe me a thank you."
"FIne. Thanks, happy?"
"Not really." Sang replied, burying her rabbit carcass in the soil and going to a far corner of the cave. Sicarius rolled his eyes, tossing his rabbit carcass aside. He laid his head down and closed his eyes, drifting into an uncomfortable sleep.
