A chilly wind swept across the field, causing the grass to sway like the ocean. A few lone clouds rolled across the still night sky, casting eerie shadows along the field. All was silent, excpet for the rustle of paws on grass. In the middle of the silent scene stood a badger facing a panther. Indeed, a very odd match. They moved slowly, circling one another, baring suprisingly white teeth.
"This is the end, Jonathon..." Came the low growl fromt he panther. He spoke in a suprising language, English.
"You will not beat me, Dane. Each time you have tried, I have come out victoriuos." Jonathon, the bagder. snarled, narrowing his beedy, brown eyes.
The panther laughed saarcastically, a sneer plastered on his black face. He lashed his tail in the air, a sign for the battle to commence. With a swift movement, Dane, the pather, raised a paw, revealing abnormally long claws. He ran towards the badger, slashing Jonathon's age-grayed muzzle.
Immediatley after being struck, the bagder charged. With an amazing jump, Jonathon was on his enemy's back. Using his sharp teeth, Jonathon cut a deep gash into Dane's back. Blood gushed up, staining his black badger fur. The two creatures sprang away.
"Give up, Dane!" Jonathon shouted, baring his fangs. "You can not win!"
"Never!" Dane shouted, lunging for his smaller opponent's throat.
Jonathon simply stepped to the side, sending his attacker into a large rock. As Dane crashed, Jonathon clawed at his throat. His paws were a blur of movement, blood sprayed in the night air, proof of the damage being done.
"Stop! I give up!" Dane yelled in agony, pushing the badger off. He turned tail and raced across the field, growing wings and featers and a beak in mid-run. He made his retreat by flying into the air as a black raven.
