"Do it!" No...I-I can't! Bleak sat at the mouth of the cave he called home, bickering with the voice in his head. Glancing over his shoulder at the sleeping body of his lover, Bleak felt the hot tears fill his eyes. Blinking a few times, the little cat cleared them. He couldn't possibly do it. "Listen to me! Do as you are told and take his life!" the voice screamed. Bleak flattened his ears, his fur rising and his eyes widening. His shoulders hunched over and his head lowered. "No!" he yowled, turning and bolting out of the cave. "I'm not listening! La la la la la," he yowled loudly. He stopped at the riverside, looking down to his reflection.
"You must listen to me, I'm your father! You do as your elders tell you, you ungrateful brat!"
Bleak clenched his jaw. "La la la la la la! I can't hear you! You are done controlling me!" Bleak sure was sounding like a brat, but he didn't care.
Suddenly, the golden tabby figure of Bleak's father appeared in front of him, only visible to the little tom's yellow eyes. The little cat gasped, sliding back a little in shock. The larger cat towered over his son, the only resemblance that showed they were related was by their almost identical coats and eyes. Judging by size and voice you would never have been able to tell. Bleak was small, with a lean body that showed no sign of muscle, his high voice giving him an eerie sound. His father was tall, built, his muscles gliding smoothly beneath his pelt, with a voice that was so deep it was almost a growl.
The towering tom suddenly dropped closer to his son's face, Bleak shrinking away in fear. "You no good, unforgiving rat of a feline!" the tom's deep hiss sounded into Bleak's ears, but the movement never showed on his father's face.
The tom sprang forward, knocking down Bleak with an unimaginable pain. Bleak thrashed and screamed, kicking into the belly of his father, but only gliding through the ghost. The large cat bent his head forward, sinking teeth into his son's ear. Bleak yowled as he felt blood drip down his face. How was he really cut? A ghost couldn't do damage, right? Wrong. The larger cat vanished, leaving the small tom lying vulnerably by the river, blood pouring out of his ear, pain pulsing through him with every rapid heartbeat. Using the last bit of his energy, Bleak managed to look reluctantly up at the cave.
I can't... he thought, then fainted.

Ash yawned. The Alley Cats tired her out. All tehy ever did was talk, or party, or attack kittypets. They never slept! Ever! Yawning again, she worked her way through the bushes. I can't wait to see Bleak and Scratch again. I love those two gay cats! Ash thought with glee, purring happily.
The trees and bushes whizzed past the blacktourtouiseshell she-cat as she started to pick up pace. The familiar path leading to the cave Bleak and Scratch had their home was a joy to put her paws on. With every familiar bush and tree she raced on faster. This was one of the things her Alley Cat cousins would never understand. The feel of belonging, the feel of dirt, twigs, and leaves beneath your paws, the sound of a stream moving down, the feel of wind ruffling your fur. The City had a few leaves and some grass... but barely any wind.
In the distance Ash saw a figure lying below the cave. Cocking her head she slowed down, wondering if Bleak and Scratch got a bit too bored. Coming a little closer she noticed the familiar tabby markings. Bleak! Ash raced forward, pausing over the unconcious Bleak. "Bleak?!? What's wrong?" Ash yelled, nudging her son with her nose. Worried, she glanced around, looking for Scratch. "Scratch?" She called, hoping the tom would hear her. Then she realized he was probably asleep. "Lazy bum," she muttered. She noticed a little blood trickling from Bleak's ear. She got a wad of cobwebs from a nearby tree trunk, pressing them lightly against Bleak's ear.

Scratch bolted upright when he heard his name being called. He had already been partly awake, from Bleak talking to himself, strangely, but hadn't felt the need to get up. He sighed and got up. Stretching, he yawned. Seeing the bright sunlight, he padded out of his and Bleak's cave. He was surprised by the sight of Ash and Bleak. Bleak had cobwebs on his ear and it had blood on it. Alarmed, Scratch ran over to Ash. "What happened," he demanded.

"How would I know? I just got here, mous-brain!" Ash snapped, then dropped her eyes, ashamed of her harshness. "Sorry, Scratch." She glanced back down at Bleak and was relieved when she realized the bleeding stopped. "Was anyone in your cave who might have done this?" Ash asked, glancing around the forest again.

"No, not that I know of. When we went to sleep, it was just me and Bleak. But that doesn't mean someone didn't break in. I'm a heavy sleeper." Scratch sat down next to Bleak. "I'm sorry I let this happen," he murmured only for Bleak to hear. He was worried for his mate and didn't want him to die. If he died, the black male would never accept another mate. It would kill him if Bleak died.

Ash sighed angrily. "Great. So we have no idea who broke into your cave and knocked Bleak out." She hissed, staring around the clearing once more. I should have never left. If I was here this wouldn't have happened. I'm a very light sleeper, I would have heard the culprit. Ash thought is anger as she pondered who attacked Bleak.

OOC:: Jeez... I thought I had replied... Must not have hit the post button... Oops...
Bleak had been awake the whole time, but his breathing was slow enough for the two cats to think he was sleeping. I really am bleeding... Of course, you twit! You think I can't hurt you? the deep voice broke into Bleak's thoughts. Opening his eyes a tad, Bleak rolled to his belly, finding the current position was uncomfortable. "It... wasn't an intruder... Scratch couldn't prevent it, even if he tried..." Bleak's meow was weak and soft. "I came out here because I had to!" Bleak lifted his head and his eyes opened fully, the bright sunlight not even making him squint. He had to tell them. "I had to get out of the cave. Scratch, I was going to kill you! And I know perfectly well who did this to me. You two don't even think about finding them; you won't have any luck." Bleak felt his eyes water and tears drip down his cheeks. "I... My father. You know how I don't know who he is? Well, I do. I don't know him personally because he isn't really there. He talks to me in my head, and I see him. He attacks me before he leaves... Scratch, do you remember when you found me after we met Equinox? My father had come and spoken to me. He attacked be before he left..." Bleak looked down at his paws.
"Fool..." The voice in the pits of Bleak's mind sounded the insult. The little tom stood stiffly up. His eyes were huge, filled with too many emotions to count. His muscles were clearly tight, his claws sliding out and gripping into the soft earth. Shut up... Shut up! Bleak looked around, his eyes hungry to spot his dad. Then, he did. "There!" Bleak screamed."He's right there! You can't see him, but I can!"

Scratch was appalled(I love that word) by what Bleak was saying. "Is that why you were so dazed that day? You kept going on and on. I didn't know what to do." He turned to Ash. "I told him to just go to sleep. I thought everything would be ok. But I see I was wrong..." Turning back to Bleak he meowed,"I'm so sorry. I feel so bad...I didn't think anything bad would happen." His heart swelled wit anger at himself. He just wanted to yowl out his frustration. "I'll be right back." He turned and ran away, deep into the forest. When he thought he was far enough, he let out a yowl that could have raised the dead(hehe). He knew that Bleak and Ash would be able to hear it, but it wouldn't be as bad for them if he was here. He sighed and started padding back. He figured they were wondering what happened to him so he started a run again. When he got back to them he said, "I'm ok now."

Bleak made an effort to stand when Scratch was leaving, but his head spun and he fell to the ground once more. Once Scratch returned, Bleak stretched up and brushed muzzles with him. "No, Scratch, don't feel bad; you couldn't do anything. I was dazed, so you couldn't possibly have understood what was happening. My father wants this." Bleak began to shiver at the large cat that was still standing in the shadows. "He... I don't know how to explain it... He wants you guys to know about him, to know that he's real, to know the danger he causes." Bleak's eyes flicked around, glancing at all three cats, his eyes stopping at his father's figure. The cat stood and began to walk up to the little group, stopping and sitting in between Ash and Scratch. "Hmn... They'll do nicely, son." the voice meowed. Bleak stood up, somehow finding the strength, and padded over to his father. He stopped and sat right in front of him, his ear laid flat against his skull. What do you want from us? Bleak thought. "Isn't it simple? I want to catch up with my son and his friends in real life... I'll see you soon, Bleak." And with that, Bleak knew what was to happen. The large tom sprang forward, bowling into the small tom and knocking him onto his back. Bleak screeched in pain, claw marks appearing on his belly as his father tore into him. Then the figure disappeared, leaving the two other cats to see what had just happened.

Ash rushed to Bleak's side as his father left. "Bleak, are you okay? That was your father?" Ash asked, slightly confused. She felt lightheaded, too much had happened. Did she really just see a ghost attack her friend. Well, there's a first chance for everything, Ash thought, shaking her small head. She was glad her father never haunted her... he was probably too scared. Ash thought smugly, recalling the day she killed her father. Then she remembered the cat who did haunt her, Ruby. Ruby was different though. She never attacked Ash. The elderly cat just offered her advice and tried to teach her right from wrong. Just like a mother.

Scratch gasped as Bleak was knocked over by a ghost. He ran to Bleak and sat down next to him. He turned to face Ash, "Ok. That was just weird." He examined Bleak for marks of any sort. He saw scratch marks on his stomach. "Ash, how do you treat scratches?" The she-cat knew a lot about herbs and Scratch hoped she would help. "How could a ghost leave actual marks? It's just not possible! But apparently, it is...." He was surprised a ghost could leave actual marks, but didn't know what to do about it.

"Get me some cobwebs. They aren't very deep." Ash said, still astonished by what she had seen. The she-cat bent down by Bleak and sniffed his wounds. They were too real...but not deadly.

"Ok." Scratch went into the forest and looked for cobwebs. He spotted some surprisingly easy. He picked them up and brought them back to Ash. "Are these enough?" He thought so but he might need more.
OOC: sorry its short. no muse.... Luny passed it on...

"Should be." Ash replied, taking the cobwebs from Scratch. She hurriedly pressed them against her son's wounds, letting them soak up the blood. She sat there for a while, thinking. Why was Bleak's father haunting him.... How could he attack his son when he's dead? Ash sighed as she realized most of her questions would probably go unanswered.

Bleak had shut his eyes with a soft sigh, but hadn't passed out. He couldn't; passing out once was enough. "It's not a ghost!" he meowed suddenly, his eyes opening. "I don't know what he is, but he can't be a ghost. He's alive out there, somewhere, tracking me down somehow." Bleak gasped as the cobwebs were pressed to him, pain radiating through even the softest touch. "Ow!" he yelped, then gave Ash an apologetic look. He hadn't meant to bark at her like that. "My father... He's not dead. He told me the first time I saw him that..." Bleak swallowed hard. "There were unfinished matters between us. He wants to finish them. I don't know, but... To tell you guys the truth, I'm scared. I'm really scared..." Hot tears blurred the tom's vision. He had never been this scared of a cat. The tears lapped over the edges of his eyes and spilled down. "You guys don't know how big he is. H-he's bigger than Scratch. You guys could picture him if you want... He looks exactly like me. He's just bigger with a deeper voice and... and... he's pure terrifying..." Bleak pinched his eyes shut tight, then opened them once more. He pictured his father, tall, built, powerful. The thought of him really being there made the little tom quiver. Sitting up slowly, Bleak scooted as close to Scratch as he could and pressed tightly to him. The smaller cat buried his face into the black fur on the tom's chest. The small tom listened closely to the steady beating of the heart that was protected by the cavity.
